The next enhancement phase of 5G technology is 5G Standalone (5G SA) which is able to offer the full suite of 5G network capabilities that operates independently of 4G network infrastructure. This new network will offer amazing fast speed, close to real-time network response time and massive connectivity that will enable new mobile broadband experience and empower new digital experience that we have not seen before.
What is the difference between non-standalone (NSA) 5G and standalone (SA) 5G?
5G NSA stands for 5G Non-Standalone which is the early phase of 5G technology that leverage on 4G network infrastructure to deliver early 5G network capabilities such as enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB). 5G Standalone (5G SA) which is able to offer the full suite of 5G network capabilities that operates independently of 4G network infrastructure. This new network will offer amazing fast speed, close to real-time network response time and massive connectivity that will enable new mobile broadband experience and empower new digital experience that we have not seen before. [Update: As at 1st April 2022, M1 has ceased our offerings on non-standalone (NSA) 5G.]
How do I enjoy 5G on M1?
Customers must have a 5G compatible device, must be within M1’s 5G coverage areas, subscribe to 5Go Plus and hold a 5G SIM Card.

How do I know whether 5G is active on my device? You should be able to see a 5G icon on your 5G compatible device, must be within M1’s 5G coverage areas, active 5Go Plus subscription and hold a 5G SIM Card.
What should I do if I am in a 5G coverage area but do not see 5G icon on my 5G device? Please ensure you are subscribed to our 5Go Plus Booster. In addition, please ensure that your 5G setting is turned on.
If I am not in the 5G network area, what will happen? You will continue to enjoy undisrupted 4G connectivity when not in the 5G network area.
With the introduction of 5G, what will happen to the 4G network? M1’s 4G network will still be available for our customers.
What is the expected speeds on 5G?
Theoretical Downlink Throughput: ~ 1Gbps
Typical Downlink: 100 to 700 Mbps
Theoretical Uplink Throughput: 40 to 90 Mbps*
Typical Uplink: 10 to 40 Mbps

Is 5G available when roaming overseas? M1’s 5G is available within Singapore only. We are continuously working with our roaming partners to expand our service reach.
Is 5G MMS available on SA network? No. MMS is not supported.
What is 5Go Plus Booster?
M1’s 5Go Plus Booster enables our customers to enjoy 5G services on eligible bill plans. You only need to activate the 5Go Plus Booster, to give your bill plan a 5G boost.
As part of our 5G launch promotion, you will enjoy 5Go Plus Booster for at least 3 months if you re-contract or sign up for any Contract with Device, mySIMe, Enterprise Mobile (EM) and SIM-only plans.

Which bill plans are eligible for 5Go Plus Booster?
Customers on Contract with Device, mySIMe, Enterprise Mobile (EM) and SIM-only plans are eligible to sign-up to 5Go Plus Booster.
How do I sign-up or activate my 5Go Plus Booster?
5Go Plus Booster can be activated during sign-up or re-contract available both online and at all M1 Shops.
Corporate Individual sign-up or re-contract is mandatory to sign a 24mths 5Go Plus Booster service commitment contract.
- Early termination charge applies for premature termination of 5Go Plus Booster VAS.

No, 5Go Plus Booster is not compatible with NumberShare service.

No, 5Go Plus Booster is not compatible with Multi-SIM service.
I have subscribed to 5Go Plus Booster, can I roam?
Upon subscription of 5Go Plus Booster, Data Passport subscription will be required when roaming in Data Passport (DPP) Countries.
For Non-Data Passport countries, data roaming cap will be applicable.
I have activated one of these services such as Data Usage Alerts, Data Roaming Alert, Network Lock or Roaming Missed Call Alert through M1 App. Can I subscribe to 5Go Plus Booster?
Yes you can subscribe to 5Go Plus Booster. However, please note that if you are currently subscribed to Data Usage Alerts, Data Roaming Alert, Network Lock or Roaming Missed Call Alert, these services will be auto-removed upon subscription of 5Go Plus Booster. In order to re-activate back of those services, you need to deactivate 5Go Plus Booster first.
I am currently subscribed to EM / mySIMe plan with 5Go Plus Booster VAS. Can I terminate the VAS at any point of time?
CORI customer on 24mths service commitment contract, premature termination may be charged an early service commitment fee (if any). Please prior check with our customer service at 1627 before termination of service.

How do I get a new 5G SIM?
5G SIM Card is issued by default for all New & Port-in Customers. For existing customers, you can get a new 5G SIM card for free when you subscribe to 5Go Plus or you can request to upgrade you existing SIM card to a new 5G SIM Card for free at any M1 Shop.
Do I have to pay to get a new 5G SIM?
As part of launch promotions, you can get a new 5G SIM card for free (U.P. $ 37.80) until further notice.
How do I activate my new 5G SIM which was delivered to me?
Please call our M1 hotline 1627 in order to activate your new 5G SIM.
Will my current 5G handset work if I do not change to 5G SIM?
Your current 4G SIM card shall continue to work on 4G networks as it does today. However, you are strongly encouraged to get a new 5G SIM card to order to experience 5G SA.
Will I be able to use 5G if I am on a 4G handset with a 5G SIM?
No. You will need a 5G compatible handset to enjoy 5G.
Will the 5G SIM work in a non-5G area?
Yes. The device shall work on available 4G network in the area.
Is there a 5G eSIM available?
No. only Physical 5G SIMs are available at the moment.

How do I ensure my Samsung S21 series phone is updated with software version that supports 5G SA network?
You may update your phone to the latest software version. (Security Patch Level 1, dated 1 September 2020: G99*XXU3AUG4). Note that MMS will no longer be supported under 5G SA network.
How to know if my Samsung S21 series is updated to the latest software to support M1’s SA 5G?
You may check on the latest software current version which should indicate G99*XXU3AUG4.
How to check if my Samsung S21 series phone is on 5G SA mode?
Once you have inserted the new 5G SIM Card, go to
- Phone Setting
- About phone
- Status information SIM card status
- On the Mobile voice and data network it should indicate NR SA under Mobile voice network type and Mobile data network type.
However, If you do not see NR SA indicator, you may follow these steps:
– Open “Settings”
– Select “Connections”
– Tap on “Mobile networks”
– Click on “Network mode”
– Select “5G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)”
I have an overseas S21 phone and will like to use in Singapore to enjoy M1’s SA 5G experience, can it support?
You are encouraged to purchased local variant only in Singapore to enjoy M1’s SA 5G.
