frequently asked questions

1. How does the transfer of ownership of a mobile number work?

To transfer your mobile number to another party, please ensure that all outstanding charges and any applicable fees, such as early termination charges, are fully settled. Once completed, the new owner will be able to choose their own plan and services. Please note that any existing benefits or promotions from the previous subscriber will not be transferred. Additionally, the new owner must meet the eligibility requirements for the services they wish to sign up for.

2. How can I transfer a mobile number to another customer?

Both you (the transferor) and the new owner (the transferee) need to be present at an M1 Shop to complete the transfer. Please bring your original identification documents, such as your NRIC or FIN.

3. What documents are required if the subscriber cannot be present at the M1 Shop for transferring the ownership of a mobile number?

If the subscriber (transferor) is unable to be present, the transferee must bring a duly signed Letter of Authorisation (LOA) from the transferor. In addition, the transferee must bring original identification documents for both parties. The LOA should include:

  • NRIC/FIN numbers of both the transferor and transferee
  • Names of both parties
  • Intent to transfer ownership
  • The mobile number to be transferred
